Tennis Elbow is also known as Lateral Epicondylitis is a type of tendinitis –Swelling of the tendons– that comes from repetitive motions of the wrist and arm. Jobs that can lead to Tennis elbow include “Plumbers, Painters, carpenters and butchers.” (Mayo clinic) Where jobs or hobbies require repetitive arm movements or gripping. The pain can spread from your wrist to the forearm which can become disabling if not treated.
Dr. Cambouris will massage and stretch the area of the triceps tendon, and forearm extensors while addressing spasms of the muscles in the arm. An adjustment of the elbow is done. Typically, there is improvement seen within two weeks accompanied by rest.
It’s important to come to not only treat the symptoms but to stop or limit the motions that are causing the problem so that it may properly heal. The order is first the diagnosis by a proper medical professional, second to treat the problem with physical therapy and icing, and third medications if necessary to help reduce the swelling before exploring surgical intervention.
